Eighteen years ago yesterday, the soul of this country was forever changed. The September 11th anniversary is a painful reminder of a dark day in our nation’s history and of the thousands of lives lost. Since then, we have worked to recover and heal including securing a long-overdue permanent victim compensation fund for 9/11 first responders. We will never forget the courage and bravery of the first responders, firefighters and medical personnel who risked their own lives to save others. We can never forget that fateful day, but we will always remember the strength and resilience of the American spirit that shines bright in its aftermath.

BACK TO SCHOOL (d.c.)

While I fly back and forth from D.C. when the House is in session, I always enjoy August because it allows for several weeks at home. The time provides many different opportunities to talk with folks and enjoy time in the district. I’m back in D.C. this week but take a look at some of my activities while I was home.

I toured the Golden Home Depot store and visited with several of their
employees.

I joined several of my colleagues at the Colorado Chamber Luncheon to
discuss the impact to Colorado of several issues before Congress such as the
USMCA, workforce development and aerospace.

I commuted with constituents to hear about how their commute is going on
the newly-opened G Line.

I participated in Starbuck’s Behind the Bar program where I got to talk with
several of their partners and try my hand at making a few lattes—it’s harder
than it looks!

It was an honor to join my friend and former Rep. Gabby Giffords for a town
hall on gun safety.

100TH GOVERNMENT IN THE GROCERY

In January 2007, my office held our first Government in the Grocery event. On Saturday, we will host our 100th event. These are valuable events which have provided me with an opportunity to hear from hundreds of constituents over the years. Stop by to help celebrate and share what’s on your mind. See below for pictures from Government in the Grocery events over the years and for a full list of upcoming events.

I am thrilled to see students from the Colorado School of Mines as one of only three U.S. teams competing in the Solar Decathlon AFRICA. Good luck!

Congratulations to the Action Center on their 50th anniversary and 50 years of service to our community. Cheers to the next 50 years!

Thank you to Governor Polis for establishing our 42nd state park!

There are so many exciting things happening in the 7th District. Look for our next newsletter for more highlights in your neighborhood.
