Head Start Program Shows Benefit for Early Child Education
Early childhood education works. Kids who participate in Head Start programs are shown to be more likely to graduate high school and have better health and social skills.

I enjoyed visiting with a group of students this week from Jefferson County Head Start. I learned about their favorite things to do, what they’re learning, and we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Head Start is a vital program for communities and families across the country, and I continue to advocate for full funding for the program so they can continue their tremendous work.

Specifically, Jefferson County Head Start offers a comprehensive child-focused preschool program for children 3-5 years old. Head Start services also include early childhood development, medical, dental, mental health, nutrition, family support and parent education.
Legislator of the Year
I am honored to be named the 2016 Legislator of the Year by the Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation. Jeffco is home to thriving bioscience, aerospace, outdoor recreation sectors and many more. It is a privilege to advocate for the people of Jefferson County and help build an economy that works for everyone.
