More Than 17,000 Coloradans Coloradans Are Owed Tax Refunds From 2009; Last Day To Claim Is April 15, 2013Congressman Ed Perlmutter is advising constituents that more than 17,000 Coloradans are owed tax refunds from the 2009 tax year, and the deadline to claim these refunds is April 15, 2013.
These unclaimed refunds total $17 million with more than half of these refunds equaling more than $500. Claiming these refunds could be significant to many hardworking families throughout the state.
Individuals who wish to claim their 2009 refund must have filed returns for 2010 and 2011 to be eligible. To get current and prior and year tax forms, go to the Forms and Publications page of IRS.gov or call toll-free 1-800-TAX-FORM (800-829-3676). Taxpayers who are missing Forms W-2, 1098, 1099 or 5498 for 2009, 2010 or 2011 should request copies from their employer, bank or other payer.
