U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) is pleased to announce that the Regional Transportation District (RTD) will receive $952,000 from the U.S. Dept. of Transportation for the purchase of hybrid electric buses.

RTD will receive the grant as part of the U.S. DOT’s annual grant awards under the Clean Fuels Grant Program. RTD has extensive experience operating hybrid buses including the buses on the 16th Street Mall in Denver.

Congressman Ed Perlmutter stated, “I am in full support of funding mass public transit, especially when the funds are used to purchase environmentally sound and efficient technology. This new technology will reduce pollution and also aid an aging transportation infrastructure. These new buses will ensure individuals have access to clean and environmentally friendly transportation. My hope is transportation districts across the country can begin implementing environmentally sound transportation.”
