Supports Plan to Fund the Country for the Year
Citing the need for certainty for small
businesses, families and our national security, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07)
voted with a bipartisan majority to support the Continuing Resolution to fund
the country through the end of September (end of FY 2013).
The measure supports important programs for economic
development in Colorado, including the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS)
which is the next generation weather satellite to predict weather patterns
earlier with more accuracy ensuring better, faster preparation, response and
recovery. The JPSS program in Colorado employs approximately 650 people
at private businesses including Raytheon and Ball Aerospace.
Furthermore, the Continuing Resolution supports critical
wildfire recovery and mitigation programs which will help Colorado recover from
a devastating wildfire season and mitigate the impacts of these natural
disasters in the future.
"By working together, we can get things done. Today,
Democrats and Republicans came together to avoid shutting our country down and
ensure we provide the kind of community services and resources we as Americans
have decided are important," said Perlmutter. "Also, the positive job
growth numbers today show our small businesses and families need certainty to
plan for the future and continue our economic recovery and growth.
Today’s bill underscores the need to pursue a balanced deficit reduction plan
for our country to be more prosperous and secure. "
