"A patent office in Colorado will bring good jobs to our state, spur development of new ideas and ensure we make things in America again.  If we make it in America, we will make it in America."

A new report unveiled today by Colorado business leaders urges the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to open a satellite office in Colorado.  The new office could have a nearly $440 million economic impact in Colorado and support more than 1000 new jobs directly and indirectly. U.S. Congressman Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) has been working closely with U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet and members of the Colorado Congressional delegation and local business leaders urging President Obama and the USPTO to open an office in Colorado.

Perlmutter stated, "Innovation is key to building the jobs of the future in Colorado and throughout the country.  A patent office in Colorado will bring good jobs to our state, spur development of new ideas and ensure we make things in America again.  If we make it in America, we will make it in America."

The report notes Colorado is an ideal location for a satellite patent office due to our ability to recruit highly educated technical and scientific workers, our high standard of living, reasonable costs, access to Denver International Airport.  A satellite patent office in Colorado would boost Colorado's already growing bioscience, aerospace and new energy industries.
