Perlmutter Calls for Extension of Production Tax Credit

Supports President's New Energy Future Plan Outlined at Buckley AFB Today

Today, President Obama will visit Buckley Air Force Base located in Aurora in the 7th Congressional District to talk about making the most of our nation's renewable energy sources.  Buckley Air Force Base, and many facilities in Colorado including NREL, SolarTAC, the Colorado School of Mines and private businesses like GE, Abound Solar, Vestas and more are leading the way in transforming the way we power our country.  U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) released the following statement about the President's visit to Colorado today:

"Investing in renewable and alternative energy sources is good for jobs and good for our national security," said Perlmutter. "The President's visit to Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora highlights the role Colorado is playing in developing and growing the jobs of the future.  We must continue utilizing and maximizing our traditional energy and natural gas resources while at the same time pushing forward investing in private public partnerships to develop renewable and alternative energy sources.  Key to this is for the House and Senate to quickly pass an extension of the Production Tax Credit which will help maintain thousands of energy-related private sector jobs in Colorado in the wind industry.  It will help lead the way in transforming how we power our nation, create thousands more new jobs in Colorado, and enhance our economic stability and national security."
