Demonstrations Include Explosions and Derailed Train at Emergency Response Training center
July 11, 2007
U.S. Reps. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) and John Salazar (CO-03) will host the Chair of the House Homeland Security Committee, Rep. Bennie Thompson (MS-02), and Undersecretary of Homeland Security, Jay Cohen, at a homeland security demonstration at the Transportation Technology Center, Inc. (TTCI) facility east of Pueblo on Saturday, July 14, 2007.
Perlmutter, a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, and Salazar, whose district includes the research and testing facility, are hosting this event to highlight the importance of the Federal Railroad Administration’s Transportation Technology Center for training and preparing first responders in handling potential disasters and terrorist attacks involving trains and underground stations.
Both Colorado congressmen are working together to ensure that TTCI remains nationally recognized as a premier railroad testing complex and becomes the newest member of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium (NDPC), which is an exclusive group of test centers and universities that provides anti-terror training.
Because of the high security at TTCI, members of the media wishing to attend all or a portion of the events should RSVP to Leslie Oliver at the above contact information.
