District Office Building Wins Energy Efficiency AwardFor Immediate Release Contact: MaryAnn Proctor. 303-233-4000 Email - leasing@propprealty.com Propp Realty’s Golden Hill Office Center Awarded 99-Point Designation by the ENERGY STAR Program ENERGY STAR, a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy awarded a 99-point rating (out of 100 points) for Propp Realty’s Golden Hill Office Center in Lakewood, Colorado. Although the office complex was constructed almost 30 years ago, the ENERGY STAR score of 99 places the facility's performance in the top 2% of all buildings of its type in the country. Augmenting the Golden Hill performance is a roof-mounted solar photovoltaic system that was added by Propp Realty in 2008. “We are thrilled by this designation,” says Propp Realty founder Daryll Propp. “Our motto for Propp Realty is Go West, Go Green and Go Healthy,” explains the Denver native. “Golden Hill uses half of the energy of a normal building of this size, and we are truly committed to increasing the energy efficiency in all of our buildings.” In addition to Golden Hill, the Propp Realty portfolio includes 15 other buildings of which two are also ENERGY STAR certified -- Applewood Tech Center and Academy Park Commons. The building systems that enable the facility's exceptional performance were originally designed by The RMH Group, a mechanical, electrical, and industrial process engineering firm that has been a tenant at Golden Hill since it was built. "Golden Hill uses technologies that have just recently been introduced into contemporary facility design," says Bill Green, president of The RMH Group. "In fact, Golden Hill has energy targets that exceed many of the new buildings being designed and built today." An ENERGY STAR-labeled building is one that can demonstrate energy performance of at least 50% better than an average facility of its type, provided it meets or exceeds industry standards for comfort and operability. Achieving an ENERGY STAR label provides confirmation to owners, occupants, visitors, and others that a facility is a high-performance green building. “Not only is the Golden Hill Office Center LEED Silver, but it is also performing at the top 2% in the country. I am so proud to have my District Office in such an energy efficient building. This ENERGY STAR rating is a testament to how promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy is good for the bottom line and good for economic development. My staff and I take pride in working in a building that is setting a national standard for sustainability and energy use,” states U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07). Celebrating 30 years in business, Propp Realty was founded in 1981 and is one of the oldest locally owned and operated commercial property companies in metro Denver. The company and its founder are known for providing quality work environments to tenants, through a dedication to green buildings, a commitment to wellness with relaxing park-like setting around each building and health facilities in the majority of their buildings. Each building has easy access to public transportation and convenient parking – including special parking for car pools and hybrid vehicles.
