Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) released the following statement in honor of the 25^th Anniversary of Black History month:

“The 25^th Anniversary of Black History Month is an opportunity to recognize how far we have come as a nation ensuring the civil rights of all Americans.  The African American community continues to enrich our culture and contribute to the diversity of America.  Last month as I was walking with my friends and neighbors in the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Marade in Denver, I was surrounded by people of all walks of life, different ethnic backgrounds and different religions.  This celebration of America’s diversity is what Black History Month is all about.  From civil rights leaders, to educators, business owners, innovators and President Obama, African Americans continue to lead the way in demonstrating the possibility every person has to achieve the American dream.”
