House Approves Transportation and Housing Appropriations
November 14, 2007
Today, Congress passed the Transportation-HUD Conference report including key appropriations for the 7th Congressional District.
As part of this legislation, Congressman Ed Perlmutter, (CO-07) was able to fight for funding for important transportation and community projects in Colorado and within the 7th Congressional District. The legislation now will go to the Senate for concurrence and then to the President.
Included within the bill are the following funding priorities:
$170,000 to build a Boys and Girls Club in Commerce City .
“Boys and Girls Clubs are important to all of our communities because they provide a safe place for our children to learn and grow,” said Rep. Perlmutter. “Providing this resource for our children instills a sense of usefulness and belonging to the community, which will reap benefits for years to come.”
$670,000 for the Colorado Department of Transportation for improvements along the I-225 corridor in Aurora .
$40 million for the RTD West Corridor light rail project. This project is a critical piece of the metro area FasTracks transportation plan.
$200,000 for upgrades to the
Pecos Street
and I-76 interchange area in Adams County
$3.6 million for mass transit as part of Colorado ’s statewide transit plan.
“These transportation projects are vital to our area,” said Rep. Perlmutter. “They will help reduce traffic congestion and help promote sustainable economic development projects in an environmentally sound way. I’m proud to be able to help fund these projects, and look forward to working with my colleagues in the Senate to secure this much needed funding.”
