Rep. Perlmutter Applauds VA Hospital Funding in President Obama’s FY 2011 Budget
February 1, 2010
Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) issued the following statement regarding President Obama’s proposed funding for the new VA Hospital located at Fitzsimons in Aurora. The President released his budget blueprint for fiscal year 2011 which included $450,700,000 for the new VA Medical Center.
“I’m pleased the President included over $450 million for the continued construction of the new VA Medical Center in Aurora. Caring for our veterans and their families and ensuring full funding for this world-class hospital is my number one priority. I will continue to work with the Administration and my colleagues in Congress to secure full funding for this project. Additionally, this facility will include a 30 bed spinal cord injury unit and provide quality care for veterans throughout the Rocky Mountain region.
I will continue to analyze the President’s proposed budget looking for areas which focus on help to small businesses and the hard working people in the middle. As our economy slowly begins to turn around, Congress must take a hard look at the rising federal debt. I will look for ways to put people back to work, provide relief for small businesses and reduce the debt.”
