Lakewood, Colo. – U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) released the following statement after touring the immigrant detention facility in Aurora, Colorado:

“We will continue to conduct thorough oversight of the detention facility in Aurora, like we did today, but what continues to be the most troubling is the outrageous policies of the Trump administration. We need comprehensive immigration reform but first and foremost we need decent, humane policies that understand we are dealing with people, and families from across the globe who are often fleeing unspeakable violence. The Trump administration’s policies are putting additional pressure on our system and on facilities like the one in Aurora and are only worsening the problem.”
