Perlmutter Applauds SolarTAC on "Powering Up" Event in Aurora

October 21, 2009

Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) released the following statement on the "Powering Up" event for the SolarTAC (Solar Technology Acceleration Center) located in the 7th Congressional District in Aurora. The 74-acre SolarTAC campus is a public-private research partnership designed to get cutting edge solar technologies to the marketplace. SolarTAC is a collaboration between Abengoa Solar, SunEdison, the City of Aurora, the Colorado Renewable Energy Collaboratory, Electric Power Research Institute, Midwest Research Institute and Xcel Energy.

"I want to congratulate SolarTAC, the City of Aurora and their industry partners on opening this research partnership campus. This is another example of how 7th Congressional District research laboratories and companies are helping to change the way we power this nation. Renewable energy businesses from all over the world are moving to Colorado to work with world-class institutions like the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and Colorado School of Mines. The people of the 7th Congressional District and Colorado understand the important role renewable energy will play as we move forward with a balanced 21st Century energy policy. Promoting renewable energy research and development is good for national security, good for the climate and good for jobs."

The SolarTAC campus is part of the larger approximately 1,800 ACRE (Aurora Campus for Renewable Energy).
