Rep. Perlmutter Presents Veterans Documentary To Library of CongressMarch 10, 2009 Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) presented the documentary, The Wars We Fought: Frontline Stories of Colorado Veterans, to the Library of Congress for placement in the Veterans History Project archives. The 30 minute film, produced for the Library of Congress and filmed by students at the Community College of Aurora, presents the stories of Colorado veterans who served in WW II, Korea and Vietnam in vivid detail. This film is part of Rep. Perlmutter’s Veterans Oral History Project, which was unveiled Veterans Day 2007. “I am so proud the stories of these brave Colorado veterans will be archived at the Library of Congress. I would like to especially thank the men and women who contributed their stories to this film and who submitted audio and video interviews to the Library of Congress’ Veterans History Project. Additionally, the students and faculty of the Community College of Aurora must be commended for all their hard work and talent in recording these stories. My office is distributing the film to high schools across the 7th Congressional District to supplement their social studies curriculum. The history of our veterans is the history of our nation,” stated Perlmutter. "The one-of-a-kind stories of veterans from Colorado's 7th Congressional District are recorded and permanently preserved in the Library of Congress American Folklife Center Veterans History Project thanks to the significant efforts of Congressman Perlmutter, the Community College of Aurora, and other volunteers. And we owe a special thanks to those veterans who have performed another patriotic act by recording their stories for future generations,” states Veterans History Project Director Bob Patrick.
