Today, Rep. Ed Perlmutter, (CO-07), a member of the House Financial Services Committee, issued the following statement concerning Chrysler’s recent announcement that they were revoking 789 of 3,200 franchises for dealerships across the nation. Here in Colorado, 12 dealerships will lose their franchises as a result, including the Medved Chrysler-Jeep dealership in Wheat Ridge, CO in the 7th Congressional District.

“The announcement of these franchise revocations is a big loss for our community. Even as we are trying to stabilize the economy and get credit flowing to the businesses and individuals who need it the most, it is clear we are still facing very tough economic times. I hope each dealer is able to restructure their business and prevent as many job losses as possible. My thoughts are with these businesses, their employees and the families as they work through these difficult times. I will continue to follow this situation and work with the House Financial Services Committee to take appropriate action where necessary to help stabilize our auto industry because it is essential to our national security, protecting American jobs and maintaining the manufacturing industry in this country to keep our auto industry running.”
