U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07), is pleased to announce $12.2 million of transportation funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (AARA) will go to construct a new interchange at I-225 and Colfax and 17th Avenues in Aurora. This interchange is critical to the construction of the new VA Medical Center and further development of the Anschutz Medical Campus at Fitzsimons in Aurora.

“Securing funding for this project has been one of my top priorities in Congress. This project is ready to go and will provide hundreds of jobs in the 7th Congressional District in Aurora. The interchange will ease traffic congestion, provide critical access for the medical facilities including the University of Colorado Hospital, Children’s Hospital and ultimately the new VA Medical Center. Our health care providers and individuals utilizing the medical campus must have timely, safe access to these health care facilities. It has been a pleasure working with the City of Aurora, the State of Colorado, the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) and the Colorado Dept. of Transportation (CDOT) to advance this important transportation project.”

Additionally, DRCOG announced last night that funding for the Pecos Street grade separation at 60th St. in Adams County will receive $10 million and the City of Arvada will receive $300,000 for completing the West 86th Parkway bike lanes.

“I am proud to show the people of Colorado projects creating jobs and jumpstarting the local economy just as Congress intended in the ARRA.”
