Rep. Perlmutter Announces National Science Foundation Research Grant for Colorado School of MinesFebruary 25, 2009 Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) is pleased to announce the Colorado School of Mines is the recipient of a National Science Foundation grant for collaborative research involving computational models for business applications. The $300,000 grant will allow students to research the practical applications of product design and how modern technology can be used to optimize the design process, improve quality and reduce cost for consumers. “The Colorado School of Mines has a world class reputation for innovative research and I am proud to support the National Science Foundation on their decision to provide this opportunity for their students. This research will provide opportunities to dramatically reduce the time it takes to design new consumer and commercial products. I strongly believe research funding is vital as we move further into the 21st Century and continue to be a leader on the cutting edge of business technology,” stated Perlmutter. “With this grant, we hope to develop a computer model that can be used to improve the design of everything from daily consumer goods to renewable energy products,” stated Cameron Turner of the Colorado School of Mines. As a result of the grant, the research at the Colorado School of Mines is projected to run until August of 2012 and will allow up to 10 graduate and undergraduate students to gain valuable research experience. ### |
