Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) issued the following statement after the announcement by Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Hoyer to withhold a cost of living pay raise for Congress in FY 2010.

“I applaud Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Hoyer’s decision to forgo the FY 2010 cost of living adjustment (COLA) pay-raise for members of Congress. We are in tough economic times and we are in this together. Congress has the responsibility to set an example of fiscal responsibility especially in the toughest of times. Small businesses and people all over the country are tightening their belts and we are doing the same. Furthermore, as a member of the House Financial Services Committee, I have been working hard to ensure we are implementing policies to stabilize our economy while helping hard working Americans keep their jobs, sell their homes or retire when they want to.”
