Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s second State of the Union address:
“Despite significant disagreements between Democrats and Republicans right now about how to move our country forward, we need to find a way to come together and get things done for hardworking Coloradans and Americans. Job number one for the President and Congress is to fully fund the government next week and prevent another needless and harmful government shutdown. Congress is working right now to agree on a bipartisan funding package to provide certainty for federal employees and agencies and make smart, bipartisan investments in border security.
“And there is much more work to be done. As I said when the President first took office, we should be able to find bipartisan agreement on an infrastructure package, workforce development, and lowering the costs of healthcare among many other issues facing our constituents. I know House Democrats are ready to roll up their sleeves and tackle these issues in the coming months. Let’s get to work.”
