Today, Colorado’s Congressional Delegation and VA Secretary James Peake met about recent developments for the Fitzsimons Veterans Hospital . An overview of a partnership between the Veterans Administration and University of Colorado was discussed. Proposed plans include an outpatient facility, a new hospital tower built and owned by the University of Colorado and leased by the VA with a new ambulatory services facility. Also outlined by Secretary Peake were increased veteran services in Colorado Springs, Grand Junction and other Rocky Mountain areas.
“Today my staff had a productive meeting with VA Secretary Peake and members of the Colorado Delegation. I was assured that the VA is moving forward with the new facility at Fitzsimons. I am cautiously optimistic that discussions between the VA and University of Colorado are moving forward. I will continue to seek input from the over 400,000 veterans in Colorado so the new facility will provide them the services they deserve,” stated Rep. Perlmutter.
