Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) issued the following statement today after the U.S. House of Representatives passed an Omnibus Appropriations package for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2017: “I’m pleased that Congress was able to work in a bipartisan fashion to avert a shutdown and fund the government through September 30, 2017. However it is alarming that President Trump is already calling for a “shutdown” in future budget negotiations. The work of running and funding the government is a serious matter and shouldn’t be joked about or threatened by the President. “While we were able to prevent deep budget cuts this time around, I remain concerned that President Trump's budget will have a profound impact on our economy in Colorado. I will continue to push back and fight against cuts to important Colorado priorities such as transportation, education, NASA, NREL, NIH and other research and development funding.” ### |
