Today, U.S. Rep Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) is proud to recognize that one year ago today the Colorado Renewable Energy Collaboratory began operations. The Collaboratory is an agreement between University of Colorado at Boulder (CU), Colorado State University (CSU), the Colorado School of Mines (CSM), and Midwest Research Institute, manager of the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).

"I would like to congratulate the Colorado Renewable Energy Collaboratory on their first anniversary. The combination of world class schools, research facilities and private companies make the Collaboratory an important vehicle for promoting renewable energy technology. The first year of the Collaboratory has shown that cooperation between public policy makers, research institutions and the private sector all combine to make Colorado the leader in renewable energy for the nation.

As oil reaches an all time high of $101 per barrel the importance of researching renewable energy technology and getting those new technologies to the market place is more important than ever. I look forward to another great year for the Collaboratory as we work toward a clean renewable energy future," stated Rep. Ed Perlmutter.

Two important contributors to the Colorado Renewable Energy Collaboratory are located in the 7th Congressional District: National Renewable Energy Laboratory and the Colorado School of Mines.

Over the first year many large companies including Archer Daniels Midland Company, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Dow Chemical, DuPont, General Motors, Shell Global Solutions, Suncor Energy, Weyerhaeuser and more than a dozen Colorado renewable energy companies combined with the research institutions to help bring emerging technologies to the marketplace.
