Perlmutter Recognized as Elected Official of the Year at Jeffco EDC’s 10th Annual Lunch
Congressman Ed Perlmutter was named the Elected Official of the Year at Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation’s (Jeffco EDC) 10th Annual Luncheon.
Rep. Perlmutter has lived in Jefferson County his entire life. He attended Jefferson County public schools and then worked construction with his father during the summers while in law school at the University of Colorado. He chose to raise his family in the district where his three daughters also attended Jefferson County Public Schools. He currently lives in Arvada with his wife Nancy, a public-school teacher, who also has three children who attended Jeffco public schools.
In 1994, he was elected to the Colorado State Senate as the first Democrat to hold the seat in nearly 30 years. He served two terms and garnered the reputation as a bipartisan bridge-builder and a champion of renewable energy and smart growth policies. In 2006, he was first elected to represent the 7th Congressional District in Congress and is currently serving in his fifth term.
“Congressman Perlmutter is a strong advocate for the business community in Jefferson County, especially in the aerospace industry which accounts for the highest concentration of aerospace employment in the state of Colorado. He takes a bipartisan approach to reach across the aisle to do what he believes is best for businesses and the residents of Jefferson County. He is passionate about representing the 7th District and creating policies that give people the most opportunity for success,” said Jeffco EDC’s Board Chairman, John Moore.
Past winners of the award have included Jefferson County Commissioner Casey Tighe, Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder Faye Griffin, Lakewood Mayor Adam Paul, Jefferson County Commissioner Donald Rosier, Arvada Mayor Marc Williams, and former Lakewood Mayor Bob Murphy.
Jeffco EDC’s Annual Luncheon was keynoted by Mike Schlappi, Hall of Fame, and two-time Paralympic gold medalist.
