Congressman Perlmutter Hails Inclusion of $100 million for DNC and RNC Conventions

Today, Congressman Ed Perlmutter (D-Golden) released the following statement concerning funding for the DNC Convention included within the omnibus 2008 appropriations bill slated to be passed by the House and the Senate this week:

"The appropriation for the DNC Convention came in just the nick of time. This funding will allow for critical planning and security so the Denver area can host a safe, fun and educational Convention. At a Congressional hearing in Aurora in August, I and my colleagues on the House Homeland Security Committee heard from witnesses about how vital this federal funding is to planning and equipping our local, state and federal officials for their missions. After the President signs this bill, we must continue to work to get these funds on the ground quickly," said Ed Perlmutter.
