Lakewood, Colo. – U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) released the following statement today reflecting on the four year anniversary of the Aurora theater shooting:
“Everyone has the right to feel safe in their community and as they go about their daily activities. Four years ago today, that right was taken away from dozens of people who went to see a movie in Aurora, Colorado. Today and every day we remember the lives impacted that fateful night - including the twelve lives we lost and their families.
“I know I will never forget the victims and their families. After having felt these tragedies so close to home, I remain committed to taking action to ensure my constituent’s voices are heard and responsible gun violence prevention laws are enacted to protect our communities.”
On July 12, 2016, Rep. Perlmutter read the names of all the victims of the Aurora theater shooting on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives while advocating for a vote on gun violence prevention legislation.
