Today, U.S. Rep Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) is proud to announce Arvada resident and Ralston Valley High School Senior, William B. Miller, was awarded an appointment to the Unites States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY for July of 2008. His parents are Lisa Sullivan and William Miller. He is the first student to be awarded a Merchant Marine Academy appointment from the 7th Congressional District by Rep. Perlmutter.

"I am very proud the Merchant Marine Academy chose William to attend next summer. His academic, athletic and extra-curricular accomplishments all combined to make him a strong candidate. I have no doubt he will succeed at the Academy. With young men like William attending the Merchant Marine Academy our nation will continue to have a new generation of leaders on our oceans and waterways," stated Perlmutter.

Congressman Perlmutter’s office will get one appointment for each of the four service academies: U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy and the Merchant Marine Academy.
