Perlmutter Invites Students to Participate in Annual Congressional Art Competition
U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) invites all high school students from the 7th Congressional District to participate in the annual Congressional Art Competition. Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in each congressional district across the country. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated.
The winning artwork from each Congressional district will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel of the United States Capitol building for one year with the artist and a family member invited to the Annual Congressional Art Show reception held in June in Washington, DC. All participants and their families will be recognized locally during a reception at Red Rocks Community College Library on May 6 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Last year’s winner from the 7th Congressional District was Mingxin Ye from Golden High School with an oil painting titled “Storyteller”.
