November 6, 2007
Today, US Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) voted with an overwhelming majority of the House of Representatives to override the President’s November 2, 2007 Veto of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA). The House voted 361-54 to override the veto.
This bipartisan bill authorizes vital Corps of Engineers flood control, navigation, beach erosion control, and environmental restoration projects across the country.
"This fiscally responsible bill upholds our government’s promise to help the Gulf Coast rebuild after Hurricane Katrina," said Perlmutter. "It provides the Army Corps of Engineers the resources they need to protect lives in communities across the country from natural disasters such as hurricanes, storm surge and flooding. I am proud to support this legislation which is the first substantive water resources bill in more than seven years."
