On Saturday, May 2, 2015, hundreds of talented high school artists from across the 7th Congressional District will present their art to the public and compete for the chance to exhibit their work in the United States Capitol.
The office of Congressman Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) in conjunction with Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) will host an exhibit and reception to present awards to high school students from around the 7th Congressional District who are participating in the annual Congressional Arts Competition, "An Artistic Discovery."
The artwork will be on display at RRCC from Wednesday, April 29 through Saturday, May 6, 2015. Prizes will be awarded to the top 6 pieces of art. The winning work will be sent to Washington, D.C. to represent the 7th Congressional District and will be displayed for one year with other winners from throughout the nation in an exhibit in the U.S. Capitol.
Approximately 100 pieces of artwork from students from the following schools will be featured: Adams City High School, Arvada West High School, Bear Creek High School, D 'Evelyn High School, Golden High School, Lakewood High School, Mountain Range High School, Pomona High School, Ralston Valley High School, Warren Tech, and Wheat Ridge High School.
"The annual art show is a fantastic way to showcase to the public the diverse talent of our students here in the 7th Congressional District,” said Rep. Perlmutter. “I am so proud of each and every one of these students.”
Jessica Jankowski from Ralston Valley High School was last year’s 7th Congressional District winner for her piece titled, “Words of Encouragement.” Rep. Perlmutter has participated in the Congressional Art Show since being he started serving in Congress in 2007.
