U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives voted on H.R. 7:

“Although I was unable to cast a vote on H.R. 7, I would have voted against this extreme bill.  On the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, House Republicans are choosing to turn the clock back more than 40 years rather than move forward on an issue long settled by the Supreme Court.  H.R. 7 is a drastic overreach into the lives of women, threatening their health by denying access to insurance coverage when they need it most.  Politicians are the last people who should be interfering with women’s personal medical decisions.  I will continue to protect a woman’s freedom to make her own healthcare decisions based on what’s best for her and her family.”
