Today, US Rep. Ed Perlmutter congratulated Aardex, LLC on the grand opening of The Signature Centre, the first commercial LEED Platinum building in Colorado, and the largest LEED Platinum speculative building in the nation.
LEED, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. Platinum is the highest level of certification a building can receive. Aardex, LLC, a development, design, construction and property services firm in the Denver area, recently completed building The Signature Centre in Golden, near I-70 and the Denver West office complex. The Signature Center was built at standard construction costs, and is 28% more energy efficient than traditional office buildings.
Rep. Perlmutter stated, "The Signature Centre shows how investing in renewable energy and energy efficiency projects can be good for the economy and our environment. I am proud of Aardex for walking the walk on energy efficiency and demonstrating to the rest of the state the benefits and cost effectiveness of building and working in a green building of this magnitude.
"This building is yet another example that the only thing holding us back in using and developing alternative and renewable energy sources is our imagination.
"Colorado has the opportunity to be the leader in utilizing and developing green building and buying practices. As chairman of the House Financial Services Energy Efficiency Task Force, we are promoting projects like The Signature Centre as prime examples of how businesses, developers, financial institutions and individuals can work together to promote energy efficiency throughout all facets of our lives.
