MILITARY CONSTRUCTION AND VETERANS ADMINISTRATION

Recipient:  Buckley Air Force Base
Address:   18848 E. Crested Butte Ave.  Buckley AFB, CO  80011
Amount requested: $4,500,000
Project description:  These funds would be used to expand the existing weapons release facility.  This facility is where Colorado Air National Guard personnel maintain weapons of the F-16 aircraft responsible for homeland defense of the Rocky Mountain Region. The existing space is 4000 square feet too small for the mission, which will hinder mission accomplishment.

Use of Taxpayer Dollars:  This is a wise use of taxpayer dollars because a dedicated weapons release facility housing all functional areas efficiently would alleviate equipment shortage concerns, shortfalls of aircraft release and weapons systems, and ensure F-16 weapons release operations meet mission requirements.

Recipient:  Colorado Freedom Memorial Foundation
Address:   PO Box 472333,  Aurora, CO  80047
Amount requested: $500,000
Project description:  These funds would be used to construct a memorial near Buckley Air Force Base to honor the more than 6000 fallen Colorado heroes.  They will be honored on the glass-walled Colorado Freedom Memorial, the only memorial of its kind in America.  For many families this monument becomes a final resting place for loved ones whose remains were never returned to Colorado.

Use of Taxpayer Dollars:  This is a wise use of taxpayer dollars because it will commemorate the Coloradans who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their nation and provide their family and loved ones a special location to remember their service.
